HOME AUTOMATION & LIGHTING CONTROL
Home automation can provide simple to use, yet sophisticated lighting control to enhance your home visually, to increase the comfort of those living there, to increase the level of security for your family, and also improve the ‘convenience’ factor of your home.
HOME AUTOMATION & LIGHTING CONTROL – Creating that WOW factor
An imaginative lighting design coupled with the sophisticated lighting control provided by your home automation system, can really bring your home to life!
Your local switch, touchscreen or remote can be programmed to operate a selection of lights to dim up or down to a pre-set level. Each ‘selection’ and the ‘pre-set levels’ can then be captured as a ‘scene’. Any number of scenes can be programmed according to your particular requirements. Your dining table can convert from ‘homework central’ to ‘romantic dining’ at the touch of a button.
You may choose to incorporate other aspects of your home automation into the lighting scenes. For example, your ‘party’ scene, may include inside & outside lighting, along with water features, and music in multiple zones; your ‘movie’ scene may draw the blinds, lower the screen, and start the projector, as well as dim the lights!
HOME AUTOMATION & LIGHTING CONTROL – For Increased Comfort & Convenience
A night time setting may allow for low level lighting in hallways and bathrooms to allow for safe navigation to the bathroom in the wee small hours!
Or sensors may be installed which will detect movement, and only then turn on the lights at a pre-set level.
When you arrive home from work, perhaps the garage door opener also triggers pathway lighting, and the entrance hall lights to turn on. No more fumbling in the dark for elusive light switches.
The press of the doorbell could be programmed to make the lights flicker in the movie room, so your visitors don’t go unheard.
The elderly, or the handicapped, find particular benefit when lighting is linked with other technologies. Arthritic hands have no need to cope with switches, when lights are triggered by presence detectors. The doorbell, causing the lights to flicker, ensures the hearing impaired are still able to welcome guests. Scheduling lights to turn on or off at certain times of day, is of great assistance to those physically confined to bed, who may be unable to operate a switch or remote, and otherwise may be relying on carers to determine when their day begins or ends.
HOME AUTOMATION & LIGHTING CONTROL – For Security
Your home automation system can interface your lighting with your security system directly, and also allow the lighting to provide other benefits to enhance your family’s security.
Perhaps activation of the fire alarm turns all of the lights fully on – to provide safe exit from all areas of the house, and easy access by emergency services.
Smoke detectors, when activated, could be programmed to ‘stop play’ in the movie room, to ensure they can’t be ignored.
If a noise is heard in the garden at night, a press of a button on your bedside keypad, could turn on all outside lighting, and a few inside lights at low level for ease of navigation while you check out the situation, and throw a shoe or two at the neighbourhood cats who woke you up!
A ‘vacation’ scene could ensure your home continues to look ‘lived in’ while the family is away. The home automation system can ensure lights come on and off in various rooms during the course of each evening so the house is less inviting to a potential burglar. Other technologies could be incorporated into the scene so that blinds open & close, garden irrigation activates, etc.
Incorporating lighting control into your home automation system provides endless options and variations. Do give us a call for a chat about the areas that would have the greatest priority for you and your family.
